Life Credit Union are a member owned, community based financial co-op. Established in 1968, Life Credit Union is now one of the largest in Ireland, with more than 39,000 members, and assets of more than €169 million. Life Credit Union offer a range of ethical financial services. Membership is open to anyone living or working in Naas, Maynooth, Newbridge and surrounding areas.

The Challenge 

To conduct a Digital Marketing Audit and develop an optimisation strategy to improve the online Marketing and Advertising performance of the Credit Union in order to help increase membership and grow the loan book.

While the Credit Union was successfully advertising their services, they wanted a professional 3rd party audit to identify if there were any possible improvements and optimisations to their current strategy.

When Fusion was asked to conduct this audit to identify if any improvements could be made, it was certainly challenging as Life Credit Union had successfully grown their membership to over 39,000 members and €57 million in member loans.

Would it be possible to develop a bespoke audit and conduct a deep dive into all their Digital Marketing activities and develop a strategy? After meeting with Julie Thornton, the Marketing Manager, to discuss their needs, we knew we could design a suitable bespoke audit for the credit union.

Our Approach 

We took a two-pronged approach to achieving the successful audit and implementation of the strategy.

  1. We conducted a complete digital marketing audit of their online presence. The audit consisted of an in-depth review of their current Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) performance, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Google AdWords activity and results, and Social Media Marketing (SMM) which consisted of their Facebook Advertising and Social Media activity across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

After the audit was conducted, we identified several SEO & SEM recommendations. Following an in-depth review of their social media presence, we offered recommendations on how they could increase their following and create new exciting and engaging content throughout their social media platforms. Using our skills and expertise, we created a tailor-made approach to optimise Life Credit Unions entire digital marketing strategy.

  1. When the audit was reviewed, we were asked to develop a strategic optimisation strategy in order to implement the recommendations for their online marketing strategy and create an enhanced member experience. We implemented the recommendations over a 12-week period.

The Results 

The implementation of the recommendations was a success, resulting in the client contracting us to manage all of Life Credit Unions digital marketing activity and complete a series of Ad Hoc projects. One of the leading Ad Hoc projects undertook consisted of the creation of an integrated online loan calculator to improve the member’s customer journey while browsing their website. Also, a series of cookie projects were undertaking to ensure GDPR compliancy.

Over the past year, we have developed a strong relationship with Life Credit Union. We continue to deliver our best efforts to optimise their entire digital marketing strategy.
